Adventures in Arriving
It's always an experience, being in a different country. Tonight, we had our first meal here at the hotel. Some things...well, we're not sure what exactly we ate. And even the things that look familiar don't always taste like they do back home. Rachel has been a trooper, though...trying new things (schnitzel nuggets, anyone?) and being dogged at finding things she likes. Me? I'll try most anything once.
After dinner at our hotel (an older hotel, but comfortable enough), we took a walk along the Promenade, ate gelato (yum!) beside the Sea of Galilee and endured the heat of this Middle Eastern City. Even at 9:30 p.m., it's still plenty hot and plenty humid.
Tomorrow, another adventure awaits at breakfast, and then we're off on a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee...the place where Jesus walked, the place where he called fishermen to be his followers, the place so much of his ministry took place. Tomorrow, our adventure to read "the fifth gospel" (the land of the Bible) begins in earnest. Tonight, we sleep. Really sleep, I mean. Stretched out and flat, on a bed...not an airplane chair.
