Door

No adventure for me last night. After posting my blog, I went down for the count, a victim of heatstroke. Nothing a few hours of sleep and missing dinner couldn’t heal. Yet, I still made it up for fried ice cream and chocolate cake! The rest of the group got a chance to go up a mountain and be able to see a beautiful view of the area. Some even were able to grab a cell phone signal up there!

This morning, we were up early for devotions and breakfast, then off to the job site. We finished the windows and put in a new back door for the family. A lot of the jobs today were in small spaces, so they required just one or two people to be involved. However, they let me use a nail gun...a power tool!

We also got to know our family a bit better. We learned that the little girl we were asked to pray for last night was all right, we learned about the woman's bout with cancer, and we learned that he has been pastoring a little Baptist church nearby since retiring three years ago. Very friendly couple, and they were grateful for our help, and glad to have new windows and a new door.

Every evening we gather around the fire to chat and sort of process the day. There have been many good things, and a few minor bumps along the way. Most of those bumps have to do with this being such a different culture, on a different time schedule and having a different way of doing things. Our team continues to grow together. We have worked well side by side and have worked quickly as well.

The project we came to do is done. We will find out on Thursday what else they have for us to do. Tomorrow is our “day off,” a chance to see some of the area.
