D-A-N-C-E
From the September newsletter:
Recently, Rachel told me we needed to re-do her room. Apparently, the posters and such that were in her room were "too little girl" for her these days. (Ah, the teenage years!) So we moved furniture, took down a lot of things, and ended up with one blank wall. "What do you want to put up there?" I asked. She wanted something written there, something to do with dance. I suggested a few sayings about dance and life, and finally she said, "No, I just want the word 'Dance' there. In big letters." So, that's what she got (made, by the way, by George Stewart, a member of our church). Big, bold letters. No one entering her room will wonder what she loves. One day it struck me: she doesn't just dance; she is a dancer. Dance is who she is.
I wonder if the same can be said of me. Not about being a dancer. No, trust me. You don't want to see me dance. It's not a pretty sight. But I wonder if people can walk into my life and see J-E-S-U-S boldly proclaimed. Not in vinyl letters, but in the way I live, the way I speak, the things I do, the way I spend my time and money. Would there be any doubt, upon entering my life, that I am a Christian? Do I just talk and read about Jesus? Or is "Christian" who I am?
What about you?
