Rome
I love to travel. I love to travel the world. I hate the packing and the getting there. This has been a long two days...but now that I've had a shower and we are at our hotel in Rome, I'm so glad I'm here. It's good to be back in this "eternal city."
We started in Chicago, took a brief flight to New York, then a very long flight overnight to Rome. There was quite a bit of turbulence early on, and the bouncing around plus the lack of good nutritional food plus just being tired led me to not feeling well. Thank you, Cathy, for putting motion sickness pills in my bag. I know those were meant for the boat, but they came in handy on the plane! We slept off and on, not well, and when we arrived in Rome, we zipped through passport control and luggage claim (thanks to Wanda having requested a wheelchair). Then we waited.
And we waited.
And we waited.
There was another flight coming in behind us that was also part of our group. So we waited. Two hours we sat in the Rome airport and waited.
Have I mentioned I'm not good at waiting?
Finally, when we got on our way, we got a panoramic "preview" tour by bus of Rome, stopped at the People's Square just outside the ancient city gate of Rome, and had lunch there. Then it was off to the hotel for showers, rest and eventually dinner. We need a good night's sleep because the next two days in Rome will be packed, then it's off on the high seas to follow Paul.
A few picture from these travel days are here.
