Toward Israel

Last night we left from Rhodes about 10:00 p.m. and set our sights on Israel. This morning, when we woke up, there was nothing to see but sea. Lots and lots of sea. The Mediterranean looks so small on the map, but it’s huge. I imagined Paul and others sailing on this sea without the advantage of modern technology. It’s amazing to me that they got the Gospel as far as they did!

We spent the day at sea today, and we got to enjoy two more talks by Dr. David daSilva. Rachel and some of the ladies also enjoyed a free “pamper party” put on by the ship spa. There was also time spent in good conversation, laying around the pool reading, and good food.

I noticed this afternoon that I’m walking slower. I’m adjusting to “cruise life” and learning to walk slower, to notice more and to allow my soul to catch up. We enjoy great conversation around a two-hour dinner, which is unusual for we fast-paced Americans. I’m eating slower. I’m walking slower. It’s a great feeling, but leaves me wondering if I can maintain this pace back home. It would be better for all of our souls if we walked slower.

So tonight we sail and tomorrow morning we pull into Ashdod, Israel, from where we will explore the Holy Land. But first, we have to get through passport control!
